Basic Numerology Terms...

Numerology has many different parts and components to it.  A well trained and experienced Numerologist can fit these individual pieces together to give you a detailed and in-depth look into your self, your life and a better understanding of how to achieve personal empowerment.  My hope is that this list of definitions will help you to learn more about Numerology and better understand the information it can provide!

Life Path:  The Life Path is the central lesson one came into the world to learn.  The most important number in a numerology chart is based on the date of birth, the moment when the curtain goes up in life.  The Life Path number gives a broad outline of the opportunities, challenges, and lessons that will encounter in this lifetime.  The Life Path is the road being traveled.

Birthday:  This is very closely connected to the Life Path.  It reveals specific talents possessed, which will be helpful to you in dealing with the Life Path.

Expression:  The Expression number reveals your talents and abilities, and your general direction in life.

Minor Expression:  This is based on the current (or short) name; the name you now use to introduce yourself including your last name.

Heart’s Desire:  The Heart's Desire demonstrates the identity of the soul that joined the earth - the spiritual being.

Minor Heart’s Desire:  The current name is a refinement of the more complex qualities of the longer name.  It sharpens and bundles the energies that are reflected by the full name.

Personality:  The Personality reveals how people tend to see you.  It also demonstrates what characteristics you are projecting to the world.

Maturity:  The Maturity number indicates an underlying wish or desire that gradually surfaces around age thirty to thirty-five.

Life Path/Expression Bridge:  Bridge numbers in a chart are the numbers that indicate how one can make the relationship between the individual core numbers in a chart easier and more compatible.  Bridge numbers have the potential to "close the gap" between the Life Path and Expression number, or the Heart's Desire and Personality number.

Heart’s Desire/Personality Bridge:  This Bridge number relates to your Heart's Desire number and your Personality number.  This Bridge number, the Heart's Desire - Personality bridge, explains how one can make the deeper self – one’s needs and desires, the true nature -- more aligned with the part of the personality others tend to recognize.

Karmic Lessons:  Numerology is based on the understanding that a person enters life with certain strengths and weaknesses.  Karmic lessons are areas that one is currently weak in and must be faced and worked on in this life.  There can be more than one Karmic Lesson.

Hidden Passion:  This reveals one or more special strengths and talents that a person can rely upon and that are available.  The Hidden Passion represents a specific field of expertise, or a concentrated talent.

Planes of Expression:  There are four levels of these:  Physical, Mental, Emotional and Intuitive.  This helps a person understand how they process information or perceived sensations and life.  Numerology indicates how as individuals function on each plane.  These Planes of Expression can greatly help you to understand your talents and abilities.

Balance:  People experience different internal responses to life's challenges.  The Balance number provides guidance on how best to deal with difficult or threatening situations.

Rational Thought:  This number reveals what can probably best be described as the way someone things.  Practical, methodical thinker, or a dreamer?  This is the kind of information revealed through the Rational Thought number.

Cornerstone:  The first letter of the first name gives an additional indication of character, particularly as to the manner in which a person approaches opportunities and obstacles.

Subconscious Self:  This reveals how one reacts to demanding situations.  It indicates the ability to get the most out of the talents and opportunities, especially when facing new or challenging circumstances.  The Subconscious Self also reveals the areas of our character that need to be strengthened.

Challenges:  Each person is born with both strengths and weaknesses.  Numerology looks at life as if it were an educational process that is meant to bring out and enhance talents, and turn weaknesses into strengths.  The job of becoming whole is one in which a person must face their weaknesses and consciously work to improve themself.  There are four numerology Challenges to be faced during a life.  For many, the same challenge is repeated, while others have four distinctly different lessons to learn.

First Challenge:  The duration usually lasts from birth until approximately the age of 30 to 35.

Second Challenge:  The Second Challenge usually lasts until the age of about 35 to 40.

Third Challenge:  This Challenge carries much weight and will be felt throughout your life.  For that reason, it is also called the Main Challenge.

Fourth Challenge:  The Fourth Challenge is most strongly felt during the latter part of our lives, beginning at the age of approximately 45.

Pinnacles:  These are four long-term cycles, or periods, on the Life Path.  Each Pinnacle represents a particular lesson being working on.  The first Pinnacle usually lasts from birth to between the ages of 30 and 35.  The middle two Pinnacles each last nine years.  The last Pinnacle will stay for the remainder of life.

Cycles:  This can bee looked at as the beginning, middle and ending of the life story.  The beginning offers an introduction and learning phase, the middle adds interest and growth and the end is the summary or culmination of events.

Transits:  These are the individual letters of the name that combine to form the Essence, which is the number that reveals a great deal about the year ahead.  The name can be seen as a piece of music that vibrates in time.  Each note, or letter, has a specific duration and influence over the course of life.  Transits reflect different areas of life:  Physical, Mental and Spiritual.

Essence:  The Essence Number and the Personal Year Number are the two essential indicators of the forces that will influence life during the course of any year.  While the Personal Year runs from January to January, the Essence is most strongly felt from birthday to birthday.

Personal Year:  This number is a strong indication of the trends and circumstances that one will experience during the year ahead.  Personal Year cycles are based on the Universal Year cycles and therefore run concurrent with the calendar year.  Transit and Essence cycles are based on the letters of the name and run from birth date to birth date.  There are nine personal year numbers, which makes up a complete Epicycle.

Personal Months:  These are energies to help better understand the Personal Year and to work with forces to accomplish goals and achieve dreams.
